Helpful Tips for a Successful Fundraiser

You’ve made the decision to go for it! Now what should you do to guarantee the best outcome?

Here are 10 tips that will help you get the most from your Music City Popcorn fundraiser:

  1. Set the dates of the sale for the most advantage selling time
We recommend starting on a Thursday or Friday and continuing for 3 weekends (approx.16 days) ending on the Monday after the 3rd weekend.
  2. Define your monetary goals and track them
Make sure that parents and students who are selling know the goal for the individual and the goal for the entire group.  Music City Popcorn will provide you with visual tools for this.
  3. Publicize!
Be sure to publicize your fundraiser through letters, posters, emails and social media. Include information about the group’s monetary goal, the purpose for the sale, the dates your sale starts and ends, and the product delivery dates.  A little communication can go a long way.
  4. Promote Music City popcorn as a great gift
Sales that take place close to holidays can really take advantage of this, but remind buyers that popcorn can be a great birthday gift too.
  5. Have students make a list
Take time the day or two before the fundraiser starts to have the students write down 10 to 20 names of people they will contact.
  6. Track current sales
On the two Thursdays before the last 2 weekends get current sales numbers from each student.  Post the totals and inform everyone on Friday before they leave for the weekend what they still need to sell to reach or exceed your goal.
  7. Be positive
Students need constant motivation.  Tell them they are doing a good job and encourage them to keep pushing to exceed your goal.
  8. Reward sales performance
Music City Popcorn has many ideas and ways to incentivize students.  We are there to help you.  Music City Popcorn also has incentives that we offer free of charge.  Talk to your local Sales Consultant about these.
  9.  Continue to publicize
Keep communicating your groups goals and purpose to the local community.  It takes a community to raise a child.
  10. Submit your orders on time
Make sure all students bring in the money and the forms the day the fundraiser ends.
